All students and parents are required to read and understand these rules and regulations. Compliance is mandatory for all members of the Sheikh Tais Academy community.

Expected Behavior

Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is essential for academic success and is required by law. Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes and school activities.

Absence Procedures

  • Parents must notify the school before 9:00 AM on the day of absence
  • Written excuse required within 3 days of return
  • Medical certificates required for absences exceeding 3 consecutive days
  • Pre-planned absences must be approved in advance

Tardiness Policy

  • Students arriving after 8:00 AM are considered tardy
  • 3 tardies equal 1 absence
  • Excessive tardiness may result in disciplinary action
  • Students must report to the office before going to class

Academic Rules

Academic Integrity

Sheikh Tais Academy maintains the highest standards of academic integrity. All students are expected to:

  • Complete all assignments independently unless group work is specified
  • Properly cite all sources used in research and assignments
  • Avoid plagiarism, cheating, and unauthorized collaboration
  • Report any instances of academic dishonesty

Assignment and Homework Policy

  • All assignments must be submitted on time
  • Late submissions may result in grade penalties
  • Extensions may be granted for valid reasons with prior approval
  • Make-up work is available for excused absences

Examination Rules

  • Students must arrive on time for all examinations
  • Bring required materials (pens, calculators, etc.)
  • No electronic devices allowed unless specified
  • Follow all proctor instructions during exams
  • Any form of cheating will result in immediate disqualification

Disciplinary Actions

The school employs a progressive discipline system designed to help students learn from their mistakes and make better choices.

Minor Infractions

Examples: Tardiness, dress code violations, minor disruptions

  • Verbal warning
  • Written warning
  • Parent notification
  • Detention

Major Infractions

Examples: Cheating, disrespect to staff, fighting, vandalism

  • Office referral
  • Parent conference
  • In-school suspension
  • Out-of-school suspension

Severe Infractions

Examples: Violence, drug/alcohol possession, weapons, harassment

  • Immediate suspension
  • Police involvement if necessary
  • Expulsion consideration
  • Legal consequences

Dress Code

Students are expected to dress appropriately for a learning environment. The dress code promotes safety, reduces distractions, and maintains a professional atmosphere.

General Guidelines

  • Clothing should be clean, neat, and in good repair
  • Appropriate fit - not too tight or too loose
  • No offensive language, images, or symbols
  • Shoes must be worn at all times

Uniform Requirements

Shirts/Tops

  • School polo shirts (navy blue or white)
  • School logo required
  • Collared shirts acceptable

Bottoms

  • Khaki or navy blue pants/skirts
  • Appropriate length (knee-length minimum)
  • No rips or holes

Footwear

  • Closed-toe shoes required
  • Athletic shoes for PE classes
  • No flip-flops or sandals

Technology Policy

Technology is an integral part of modern education. Students are expected to use technology responsibly and appropriately.

Acceptable Use

  • Educational purposes only during class time
  • Respect intellectual property and copyright laws
  • Maintain appropriate online behavior
  • Report any technical issues to staff

Mobile Device Policy

  • Phones must be silenced during class
  • Use only when permitted by teacher
  • No recording without permission
  • Violations may result in device confiscation

Internet and Email Guidelines

  • Use school accounts for educational purposes
  • No accessing inappropriate content
  • Respect privacy of others
  • Report cyberbullying or harassment
